Jennifer
Jennifer
Flexologist
Jennifer Matkin has been training in classical Pilates for nearly three years, after an auto-immune disease caused her to lose the use of her right arm. Her doctors recommended Pilates for recovery and she fell in love with it and decided it was something she wanted to teach others. Jennifer enjoys doing anything outside and while she’s not a huge sports fan, she’ll play for fun and prefers being active to tv, movies or video games. She loves that StretchLab is a great avenue for people to start their journey of health and fitness and is a great and essential addition to any exercise regimen.

I have experience as a yoga teacher and massage therapist. I have studied Yoga and energy work for over 15 years and enjoy sharing different techniques with others. As a yoga teacher, I focus on making sure the students have a strong foundation in each posture. I believe that having a strong and stable foundation is the key to making any movement easeful. I bring this philosophy to each stretch session, so whether you are an athlete or are just looking for a little more mobility in life, I will make sure that your body is in the best position to make an easeful stretch. I love to spend my free time out in nature going hiking, kayaking and gardening. I also enjoy sitting back with a cup of homemade herbal tea from my garden and knitting or crocheting. I enjoy working at StretchLab because I get to see the members gain not only flexibility and mobility, but also increase their self-esteem and sense of inner strength. Working one on one with people allows us to create a family like setting and really connect with the members as they go on this journey of self-improvement.

My health and fitness journey started about 8 years ago. Prior to that, I was a pack a day smoker and a professional couch potato! I spent most of my adult career in the corporate space, as a Vice President at JPMC. Like many of us, my job became redundant during COVID.  I was told I had three months to either find another role within the firm or take a severance package. It only took me one day to figure out what I wanted to do - I wanted to do something that I was passionate about, something where I could help other people. So I took that severance package and fast forward to the present I am now a certified nutritionist and personal trainer!  As a Flexologist I am able to expand on these new competencies, while still being in a space where I would be helping other people accomplish their health and wellness goals. Come visit me!! I can’t wait to help you reach your stretch goals!
