John Levis discovered yoga in 1999 where he learned the benefit of stretching, joint mobility and functional, optimal body mechanics. His practice of yoga cleared years of chronic back pain and he actually grew an inch at the age of 30! He has been teaching an alignment based style of yoga since 2003, having been certified in Anusara Yoga in 2009. He has taught in many yoga teacher trainings teaching students and teachers to be optimal and therapeutic in their practice. He has also been practicing Thai Yoga Bodywork (aka Thai Massage) since 2005 taught by Jonas Westring of Shantaya Healing Arts. John’s yoga travels have taken him to Costa Rica, India, Egypt, Singapore and he hosted a yoga retreat in Bali, Indonesia in 2012. John completed the massage therapy program receiving a diploma at the American Institute of Alternative Medicine completing a 680 hour program in therapeutic massage, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, orthopedic assessments, anatomy, physiology & pathology as well as receiving a Medical Massage Therapy Certification in 2020. John has received certificates in NeuroMuscular Reprogramming (NMR) taught by the founder, Jocelyn Olivier, and Functional Integrative Therapy (FIT) as taught by the founder, Mark Carangelo and has also completed Reiki Levels 1 & 2. He continues to study the functions of the human body as well as studying and practicing breathwork and meditation for greater well-being. John teaches yoga weekly at PowerFlow Yoga in Morristown and Niyama Yoga in Randolph, NJ. He is a Certified Sommelier, a former Outdoor School Guide for REI, avid mountain biker and all around outdoor enthusiast.
